Yin Armchair: The Poetics of Opposites through the Design of Ana Julia Schmidt

Balance rarely stems from uniformity. More often than not, it arises from the respectful and harmonious coexistence of seemingly distinct elements.

It was under this premise that Morada Decor presented the original debut of designer Ana Julia Schmidt at ABIMAD'42: the Yin Armchair.

Representing the freshness and strength of the new generation in original Brazilian design, Ana Julia conceived a piece that transcends form, offering a sensory investigation into contrast, identity, and comfort.

THE YIN CONCEPT: AN INVESTIGATION INTO HARMONY

Inspired by the complementary duality embedded in the Eastern concept, the Yin Armchair is a materialization of the plurality of relationships.

Ana Julia Schmidt did not seek to create a piece with obvious shapes or rigid symmetry; instead, she explored how geometric rigor can serve as a structure for sensitive comfort, and how solid wood can dialogue with soft, upholstered volumes.

The Yin Armchair proposes a serene and authentic presence, validating the essence of nature's signature through a contemporary and plural lens.

THE RIGOROUS COEXISTENCE OF OPPOSITES

On one side, we have the structural rigor and geometric precision of the structural base; on the other, the generous, sensory comfort of the cylindrical upholstered volumes that seem to embrace the body.

The base's precision allows the upholstery to reveal itself in its ultimate softness, uniting the manufacturing maturity of Morada Decor with the creative freshness of Ana Julia Schmidt.

The Yin Armchair stands as a testament to the creative plurality of Morada Decor’s new cycle.

A piece validated by the country's most demanding retailers at the latest ABIMAD, reaffirming Brazilian design based on construction, manufacturing intelligence, and, above all, soul and authenticity.
